Recall Alert: WeCook Swiss Cheese Meatballs Pulled Due to Listeria Risk
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for WeCook brand Swiss cheese meatballs with creamy mustard sauce due to potential Listeria contamination.
This precautionary recall follows recent testing results. Fortunately, there have been no reported cases of illness related to this product.
The affected meatballs come in various sizes, have a best-before date of July 20, 2024, and are identified by UPC 6 28123 55000 6.
The CFIA indicates that these products were distributed through online channels and in stores across Ontario and Quebec.
The Public Health Agency of Canada advises consumers to either dispose of the recalled products or return them to their place of purchase.
Listeria contamination may not always be visible or detectable by smell but can still pose serious health risks. Symptoms of listeriosis include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches, and neck stiffness.
Earlier this month, several plant-based refrigerated beverages from Silk and Great Value were also recalled due to Listeria concerns.
Ontario’s Health Ministry has confirmed that two deaths from listeriosis have been linked to the recalled milk products. A total of twelve individuals, including ten in Ontario, one in Quebec, and one in Nova Scotia, have reported illnesses related to these products.
